Guess Chess is a minimal card game thoughtfully mixing chess pieces with memory and card placement. It takes less than a minute to explain and keeps players exploring and testing better strategies for many rounds.
Each player has at their disposal 8 cards with chess pieces disguised as aquatic animals (a Queen, a King, two Rooks, two Bishops, two Knights).
Players take turns in secretly placing 8 figure cards on a 4×4 board. Last placed figure is instantly revealed and begins a chain of attack = reveal an opponent’s card in its reach. The first player who cannot reach any new card with their revealed figure, loses.
This game creates a surprising combination of card-placement, memory and chess tactic elements. For now, no one knows if there is an underlying magic formula or how difficult is to find it. Watch your cards, watch your moves. Watch your opponent if you can handle it all at once.
It also comes with 3 and 4 player variant, that adds all the chaos and joy of choosing between many targets. It is an unique feature of Guess Chess to end with a single losing player, while all the others share the victory. For competitive players and formats that just really need to determine the winner, the scoring is as easy as counting the remaining hidden cards.
